Universal Design for Learning

Universal Design for Learning is focusing on making the curriculum more accessible for all students. There are 3 domains that are focused on with there being objectives being broken down in each to give more specific information about how to achieve the goal of each domain. The three domains are engagement, representation, and action and expression. Engagement is focused of increase students' buy-in to learning therefore ensuring they gain more from a lesson. The representation domain is all about making sure that cultural differences and physical and academic disabilities do not impede the learner's ability to understand what is being taught. Action and expression are what we also think of different learning styles. It is presenting information in different ways so that all learners can access the lesson. Videos and QR Codes in the Library

The Unquiet Library Channel I believe of the two videos I selected this video would be the most helpful to students. It has practical information that students can apply in multiple areas of their learning. This video from the Unquiet Library channel I feel would appeal the most to students. The girls in the video presented their information about mythology in a fun and unique way that makes it engaging for students. Pikesville High School Library Channel The video on how to register for classes is the video that I find the most helpful for students. It walks students through registering step by step and even reminders them of different requirements they must meet to graduate. This video is a fun video of seniors dancing in the library celebrating the end of the school year. I feel that students would like seeing this video and the ability of the librarian to connect to students in a trend that was hot at the time. BBMS Media A resource video about si...

Screencasts

The first screencast app that I used was Screencast-O-Matic. It was easy and quick to download to my computer. As soon as I had it installed I was able to start using it with very little training. I liked the 15-minute time frame as what I was teaching took me about half of that time. Once my video was complete the app gave me a nice walk-through of different things that I might want to do to my video to customize it. I was able to rename my video and get it downloaded relativity easily. The only drawback to me for this program is that it has to be downloaded on any device that you want to make a screencast on. I used Screencastify as my second app since it could be downloaded through the Google Play store as an extension and I had seen other screencasts done using this program.
