Videos and QR Codes in the Library

The Unquiet Library Channel

I believe of the two videos I selected this video would be the most helpful to students. It has practical information that students can apply in multiple areas of their learning.

This video from the Unquiet Library channel I feel would appeal the most to students. The girls in the video presented their information about mythology in a fun and unique way that makes it engaging for students.

Pikesville High School Library Channel

The video on how to register for classes is the video that I find the most helpful for students. It walks students through registering step by step and even reminders them of different requirements they must meet to graduate.

This video is a fun video of seniors dancing in the library celebrating the end of the school year. I feel that students would like seeing this video and the ability of the librarian to connect to students in a trend that was hot at the time.

BBMS Media

A resource video about sites that are available outside the library and school. I think that students would find this information valuable when working on homework and outside of class assignments.

This fun and engaging video encourage students to bring their overdue books back. The fun spoof on Beauty and the Beast is sure to be a hit with students.

Book Trailer Video

New York Times best-selling author Aaron Reynolds delivers an "entertainingly spooky romp" (Publishers Weekly, starred review) about Rex Dexter, who is itching to have a dog . . . but ends up with a pet chicken. One hour and fourteen minutes later, the chicken is dead (by a steamroller), Rex is cursed (by the Grim Reaper), and wild animals are haunting Rex's room (hounding him for answers). Even his best friend Darvish is not going to believe this, and that kid believes everything!

Rex's uninvited ghostly guests are a chatty, messy bunch. And they need Rex to solve their mysterious, deadly departures from the Middling Falls Zoo before it happens again. But how?

Reynolds, A. (2020). The incredibly dead pets of rex dexter (Illustrated ed.). Little, Brown Books for Young Readers.

Scan the QR code below to see a book trailer about The Incredibly Dead Pets of Rex Dexter. It is one of my favorites from this year's Texas Bluebonnet list.

QR codes can be very useful in the library. They can be used to advertise books. You can use them to make shortcuts to videos on how to use different resources in the library. They can even be used to link directly to your online catalog so that students can quickly search for books. Students can even make their own QR codes to display their work throughout the library.

  2. Hello Sara!
Great job on your book trailer! I’m always looking for new books to read to my students and haven’t read this one yet. Thanks for the recommendation. I loved how user friendly Animoto was when creating the slideshow. I think I had a more difficult time finding the images that represented the story well and were Creative Commons and Copyright Free.
